How to properly take measurements

Kameelahs Closet was designed with newborn infants to girls’ size 18 in mind.  Our garments are not intended to be close or form fitting.   We offer standard girls’ sizes, however customized garments may be ordered specific to your child’s measurement. Be sure to measure with a soft, non-stretch tape measure not a string or ruler.  All measurements are in inches and all weights are in pounds. If your child's measurements fall within more than one size, order the largest size.  To determine your child’s standard size, please check the following measurements:

Height

Have your child stand as straight and tall as possible against a wall. Your child should wear socks but no shoes. Place a book or other stiff object on his/her head parallel to the floor and mark the spot where the book meets the wall. Measure from the floor to the mark. Chalk or a very light pencil mark will be easiest to erase when you are done.

Chest/Bust

Have your child stand with his/her arms out to the sides. Measure at the fullest part of the chest/bust over underwear. Your tape measure should be snug but not tight.

Waist

Have your child stand with his/her arms out to the sides. For pants measure over underwear at the smallest part of the waist. Again, your tape measure should be snug but not tight.

Seat/Hips

Have your child stand with his/her arms out to the sides. For pants measure over underwear at the smallest part of the waist. Again, your tape measure should be snug but not tight.

Inseam

Have your child stand up straight with his/her legs slightly apart. Your child should wear socks but no shoes. Measure from the crotch, along the leg to the floor. Subtract 1 1/2 inches from this number for the inseam measurement.

Now that you have all the measurements you need, consult the Fashion Item Size Chart to order the correct size.

Custom Orders Because our customized garments are tailored to your child’s personal form it is important that accurate measurements are taken. Keep in mind that children grow fast. Perhaps you may want to add an inch or so to the measurements. Custom orders may not be returned.

Be sure to use a non-stretch tape measure.  When you wrap the measuring tape, make sure it is not too tight or too loose. There should be no gap between the tape and body, but the tape should not sink into the skin at all.  When you have reviewed all instructions, please submit the Custom Order Sizing Form Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about the required measurements.
